Peacock Ore is the common name for the mineral Chalcopyrite, particulary when the surface has tarnished or oxidised to display beautiful iridescent colours. Freshly exposed Chalcopyrite is a brassy yellow colour and easily confused with iron pyrites. (Fools Gold)
